A talk with teens :)

Brian & I recently went to visit Cumberland Regional High School in Cumberland County NJ to talk with a group of teenagers involved in the Future Business Leaders of America club, about the March of Dimes.   In all honesty Brian did all the talking.  I was more like his cheerleader.  But still..   This particular branch of FBLA raised the most money for the March of Dimes last year.  We were excited to talk to them & encourage them to keep helping March of Dimes & their mission.  They were a great group of kids.  Brian shared Emily & our story through a power point presentation.   The response was really great from the kids, we even got a chance to promote our book a little.   Although that certainly wasn't the "reason" for the visit,  we were grateful for the opportunity to share,  "A Life Begun" with others.   We love sharing her story,  because it is truly a remarkable one.   We are proud of Emily & her incredible fight to survive her very early arrival.   We can't believe how far she's come,  if you would like to read her story.... you can get a copy of the book, A Life Begun via the internet on Barnes & Nobles, Amazon or a hard back copy through the website, www.lulu.com  Anyway- thanks for stopping by.  Have an incredible day!

The Latest Review! :)

"A Life Begun" (the book Brian wrote about Emily) latest review: "If you are afraid of getting emotionally wrapped up in a book, you might want to avoid this story, but as long as you are fine with that, grab a box of tissues and a comfy chair (you might not be able to put the book down), and be prepared for a glimpse into what it takes to bring a micro preemie into this world. Hold on tight as you experience an emotional roller coaster full of love, fear, anger, faith and mo...re. Full Disclosure: I am the insensitive jerk in chapter 6 that made a poorly worded comment the first time I saw Emily. Even though I was (and still am) a friend of the Author and his family at the time that this story took place, I was unaware of just how challenging it had been before reading “A Life Begun”. Brian tells his story with emotions that most people don’t share with the public. This really is a must read, especially for those of us who brought a child into this world the traditional way." A Life Begun from the beginning

The book "A Life Begun" was written by my husband Brian, it is the true story of our daughter Emily who was born very premature and weighed 14.7 ounces.  We decided to share her story, for many reasons the most obvious one is we wanted to provide hope to other parents of premature babies, most especially those parents of micro-preemies like our Emily. When she was first born we tried very hard to find books about a baby as small as Emily, & while we did find a few books on micro-preemies we never did find one about a baby that weighed as little as she did at birth that had a happy ending.  We wanted to provide hope to other families.  We also decided to write it for my mom.  You'll learn about her & how her story intertwines with Emily's birth.   We really are very proud of the book, we hope that you'll read it.  It's really a very amazing story, about the will of a tiny baby & us as her parents who struggle to decide what at times is right for us to do for her.   Spoiler: Today Emily is 12 years old & entering 7th grade.  To say she is smart is an understatement, she's super smart, & has received straight A's since she entered school.  She's one of those kids who started reading at 2 1/2 & could recite the presidents in order at 5. She's in the advance placement classes at school. :) The skies the limit for her! As such any profits off the sales of the book will go towards Emily's college fund.  I can't even tell you how fast the time has gone, but also I am so proud of all we conquered together as a family.  So whether you're a parent of a premature baby who needs a little hope after months in the NICU or just started that scary NICU ride, this book will provide you with hope.  Even if you've never experienced the NICU but just are a person looking for some hope, this book will provide it!  If you have any questions for Brian or I (Or Emily for that matter) please feel free to comment.  If you do decide to purchase this book,  we would really appreciate if you would leave a review after you're done reading it. Thank you.
